The new Sage VXP combines the VT2's versatility with the performance and power of our renowned XP rod Series. The result? An exceptionally light, lively fly rod that generates high line speed for easy distance and wind penetration. Impact? An improved fishing experience! In keeping with the versatility theme, each Sage VXP rod is built with a specific taper to meet the particular performance needs of each line weight. For example, the light, graceful 3-weights feature a smooth, progressive action to help make delicate presentations and cushion fragile tippets.
On the other hand, the 9-and 10-weights come with a faster taper and more backbone to deal with big flies, heavy tips and tough fish. In between, you'll find two versions of each 6-weight—one or freshwater and one for salt.

The Sage VXP Series fly rod is a slightly faster version of the old favorite the XP. It is considered smooth and responsive with a thinner overall diameter that reduces the mass weight of this rod and it is light as a feather! Our staff had the pleasure of test driving the 9' 5 weight VXP at our lodge recently and our review of the Sage VXP was great. It is an impressive creature, with undeniable power in a rod that has an articulate feel and does not overpower small dry flies yet will rocket your indicators and split shot at high speed! The guides seem to be slightly larger than the old XP which makes shooting line great distances a snap. We plan to do more reviews of the other rod weights but we expect that they will fall right in line with our opinion of the 5 weight. George Cook of Sage especially likes the 6129-4 Sage VXP Spey Rod and his review was fantastic.
