Boris Lavrentiev's Painting In The Kate Moss Collection
The VZ Gallery opened on November 19, 2011. The subsequent public view the following weekend was held at the The Old Truman Brewery. An exhibition by two remarkable artists: Boris Lavrentiev and Natalie Richy. Also the gallery has opened with a gig by funky girls from The Godivas string quartet.
Vadim Zabelin, the gallery owner, mentioned, that these two artists are the gallery's potential for future development with there own unique technique and style, embody two opposing poles of creativity – a 'ying' and a 'yang' – reaffirming the infinite variety of the artist's palette.
VZ Gallery presents one of these two talented artists Boris Lavrentiev, who also is an architect, designer, writer, and traveller. Lavrentiev has become honored figure on the Moscow art scene. His vast mixed-media tableaux fuse musical scores, canvas and acrylic; they play with the forms and fragments of the lieux communs of world culture, immortalizing famous historical figures.
The VZ Gallery artist presented the portrait of supermodel Kate Moss to her at the wedding party with guitarist Jamie Hince that was held on the first weekend of July. This luxury and elegant wedding took place near bride's family home in the village of Southrop in Gloucestershire. Among the expected party guests were fashion designers Dame Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney, supermodel Naomi Campbell, Topshop boss Philip Green and actor Jude Law and his ex-wife Sadie Frost.
The whole event was jokingly nicknamed ''The Ritz at Glastonbury'' by the hostess. The VZ Gallery is creating an experimental space that serves both up-and-coming and established artists from all over the world. Having its showroom in Shoreditch, the cultural heart of the British capital, the VZ Gallery also holds exhibitions at other temporary locations.
Before unveiling the portrait the bride noted to a top photographer and also a friend Mario Testino, that not only he could picture Kate so well, but also it could do her new Russian acquaintance. The art promoter Gerald Blazevic presented the mixed technique painting executed on the Mozart score with a quote The World Is Not Enough on behalf of the VZ Gallery.
The gifts also presented actors Jake and Dinos Chapman and the sculpturer Marc Quinn. The record sum was reached selling set of Banksy's prints of Moss in the style of Warhol's iconic Marilyn in a Bonham's Urban Art auction. Kate Moss clearly holds the title of most recognizable face of her time by a long shot.
